Since we opened our doors in 1988, our goal has always been simple – to consistently deliver insightful advice that is truly valuable to our clients. Today, Grant Samuel is one of the most respected names in corporate finance in Australia and New Zealand. We provide fully integrated advisory and execution capabilities across the full spectrum – from mergers and acquisitions to capital structuring and sourcing to assessing the impact on shareholder value.

With more than 60 executives across three offices, our expertise and experience is matched by a passion for quality service and building good relationships that deliver optimal long term outcomes for our clients’ businesses. Throughout our history the majority of our engagements each year have been from repeat clients or direct referrals from clients.

How we operate?

Grant Samuel was founded with principles of integrity, trust, humility and respect. These values are fiercely maintained and protected today.

A holistic approach to solving our clients’ issues

We bring expertise across key industry sectors and corporate finance disciplines. We are relentless in pursuing every angle and, if traditional approaches don’t work, we will innovate to enhance the outcome. It means you can sleep soundly knowing that our team is actively thinking about delivering optimal solutions for your business.

Long term relationships are in our DNA

We are 100% owned by current employees, which means we think and act like owners.  We recognise that our business is built on long-term, trusted relationships and are focussed on keeping our clients’ interests paramount. We are fiercely loyal to our clients and often find that loyalty is reciprocated with ~60% of our engagements from repeat clients.

Our people are our most valuable asset

We are committed to attracting and retaining talent that wants to excel professionally in an environment that they love working in.  Our culture sets us apart – from a genuine partnership approach to collaboration, ongoing training and client exposure, flexible working arrangements, diversity and corporate social responsibility. We understand that our workplace needs to be special if we want to create opportunities for employees and remain an employer of choice.

Committed to better,
working for good

Our commitment to delivering a positive and enduring impact on the lives of our staff, the community and environment is reflected in the core values of our ESG Framework.

ENVIRONMENTAL

We don’t produce anything but words and numbers! But we can reduce waste. We support comprehensive recycling programmes which include paper products, organic materials and other recyclable materials.

We are passionate about making a positive contribution to our natural wildlife and beautiful country. Specifically, we provide financial and operational support to the Australian Wildlife Conservancy. AWC is one of the world’s largest conservation organisations, delivering and influencing effective conservation across more than 12.9 million hectares in iconic regions such as the Kimberley, Cape York, Kati Thanda-Lake Eyre and the Top End.

SOCIAL

We understand that diversity makes us stronger. In society and in business, different points of view from varied social and cultural backgrounds can lead to better outcomes for everyone. In our workplace, we have zero tolerance for bullying, discrimination and harassment and work to provide a fair work place where everyone has equal opportunity to be heard and recognised. We foster a collaborative, supportive and hardworking culture that celebrates success and provides opportunities for fun along the way. We also support greater gender equality across our industry, supporting a range of women-in-finance events and as sponsors of the Women in Banking Internship.

Supporting the communities in which we live and work helps to make everyone’s lives better. Grant Samuel supports a range of non-profit organisations and provides opportunities for all employees to donate their time and professional skills, to make impactful and ongoing contributions to a range of causes.

Now more than ever, our team’s health and wellbeing is paramount. While ongoing professional development is fundamental to providing a supportive environment, we also provide support through a number of internal programs available to all employees including flexible work arrangements, mentoring programs and a family-friendly parental leave policy. Through a partnership with leading Employee Assistance Program, Life Street, we also facilitate access when it’s needed to external support and resources such as counsellors or psychologists.

GOVERNANCE

As Grant Samuel is owned by employees, we are not subject to the inherent conflicts of interest that can arise in other financial services firms. We don’t have any products to sell, principal positions to protect or capital at risk. Our commitment is solely to provide our clients with balanced, independent advice.

Real integrity comes from both the leadership of an organisation and the behaviour of every individual. We can set standards but, ultimately hiring the right people with the right attitude is fundamental. Good people make good business.

We take our responsibility for safeguarding your business and our reputation seriously. Ultimately, we are accountable to you, our client.
